Farm area (2007):
  • 80 ha of arable land, full grassland
  • 20 ha of natural grassland with late mowing
  • In addition, the production from approximately 20 ha of maize and from several parcels of lucerne is purchased.
  • Our goal is to become more self-sufficient –  also for concentrate – by leasing land, purchasing land and cooperating with third parties,  so that mineral cycles can be closed.

Herd:

  • 160 milk cows and cow-calf pairs

Ration:

  • Grass-clover silage
  • Maize silage or triticale GPS
  • Dried lucerne

During the pasture season, there is limited pasture access (7 kg DM from pasture grass).
Concentrate (per cow per year, including young animals): 1500 kg purchased pellets.

Breeding:

  • Breeding objectives emphasise protein content, feet and legs, longevity and udder health
  • 2/3 Red Holstein sires including .Creylo, Kian, Puntdroad, Redgold, Perry, Laarman and Fabian.
  • 1/3 Montebeliarde sires including Lautechaux, Natif-JB and Pernan
  • F1 of Montebeliarde x Holstein is crossed with Brown Swiss: Moiado, Picasso
