Swine Research Farm Raalte is the primary experimental farm for organic pork production in the Netherlands. The farm has a sow barn for 100 sows, with pre-finishing units for animals up to 50 kg and a barn for 600 finishing pigs. In addition, there is a project barn, ‘Pigs in Comfort Class’. This project barn is sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the Sector Organisation for Agriculture and the Animal Protection Society. It accommodates 200 regular finishing pigs.
