The Dutch livestock sector enjoys an excellent international reputation. Though continuous innovation, the sector has acquired a top international position. Due to its intensity and the factors of climate change and globalisation, the Dutch livestock sector must become more sustainable. The core theme of Wageningen UR, ‘21st century Agro-production’, challenges the sector to produce more with less input – therefore more efficiently – and with less pressure on the environment and the surroundings.
